Our History
John and Andrea Barella launched North Bay Construction with $1,500 and a dream to succeed as hard–working, honest entrepreneurs, never too proud to do any tasks and never hesitant to take a risk. With vision, innovation and foresight, their achievement is truly an authentic 21st Century success story.
Evidence of their success is the remarkeable growth and impressive record of achievement at North Bay Construction. In 1976, the Barellas opened our first office in a dilapidated redwood barn they shared with a diesel mechanic. Today, our 42,000 square foot corporate complex sprawls over eight acres in Petaluma, California. In the geginning, we owned one used Case 580 backhoe and a single dump truck. Today, our ever–expanding fleet includes several hundred pieces of heavy construction equipment and support vehicles. Through the yeras, the Barellas have brought together several hundred loyal employees who share their dream to succeed and be the best at all they do.
Our People
This dream includes an unflinching commitment to support our corporate family, enrich their lives and provide on–going education through training programs, such as our NBC University. Today’s President Steve Geney joined the Barellas early on as the first estimator, speaking over the roar of diesel engines into the only phone in the office. Others soon joined the ranks: Andrea’s sisters, John’s nephews, Steve’s son, family friends and acquaintances found themelves drawn into a unique extended family…a family that provides job security and rewards for motivation to work together and produce extraordinary results.
Our Yellow Iron
These extraordinary results are kept in motion by North Bay Construction’s state–of–the–art fleet of heavy construction and support equipment. The resourcefulness of experienced operators and an unblemished safety record ensure the most efficient execution of surface excavation, grading and paving, as well as the installation of underground utilities.
