GPS Technology

GPS Technology EquipmentGPS technology has been around for many years but it was initially introduced to the construction industry in 1997. Developers are continuously ugrading the technology while finding new applications to use with the GPS system. The benefits of GPS on a jobsite are very apparent: less time, less costs, less man power, and greater production. GPS technology on a large earth repositioning jobsite cuts down on surveying costs because surveyors are not needed to set up thousands of grade stakes for surface work, and they are only needed to set control for GPS, certify pads, and stake for underground utilities.

NBC has been using GPS technology for grade checking and on its equipment since 2000. We have GPS equipped on a D9 Dozer, D5 Dozer, D8 Dozer, and a 140H Motor Grader. More of the recent jobs that have used GPS technology are: Columbus Pkwy Road Reconstruction, Southgate Subdivision, SRJC Petaluma Campus Addition, and Wilson Ave. Road Realignment. The application of this technology on these jobsites helped cut costs and increase production. We are also using GPS to locate underground utilities that are covered up after paving. GPS has become an accurate tool that has benefited NBC by more accurately bidding jobs and also by performing work on jobs, which ultimately benefits our clients.
